In France, and around the world, 25-year-old Valentin Brunel AKA Kungs has become the new face of French electronic music due to his world-renowned smash “This Girl” (vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners) which has garnered 6.5 billion streams and reached 13x Diamond status. By 2016, he had become the most Shazamed French artist in the world.
Four years later, after having performed live shows and DJ sets all over the world, with notable appearances at the most prestigious international festivals (Coachella, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, Summer Sonic…), Kungs initiated a Mediterranean-inspired digital party dubbed Club Azur, to deal with the gloom of the global pandemic. This uninhibited party movement gave birth to a strong desire to bring people together through music, which was embodied by the hit “Never Going Home”, a track that people dance to all over the world during the summer of 2021. “Never Going Home” climbed the charts worldwide, reaching #3 in Italy, and going Top 10 in France, Poland, and the Netherlands. The hit seduced top dance radio stations in the USA, making it to #7 on the global Shazam chart and #3 in the Shazam global electronic charts. A new international hit was born, accumulating over 267 million streams worldwide.
Less than a year after this world-beating success, the album “Club Azur ” arrives March 18, heralded by the single “Clap Your Hands,” out now. A feel-good anthem with a children’s choir, “Clap Your Hands” is a joyous and sun-kissed tune that advocates lightness and playfulness. The track is infused with Italo-disco vibes and comes complete with a darkly funny and apocalyptically-inspired video.
Featuring collaborations with Boys Noize, The Knocks, Good Times Ahead, and Victor Flash, ‘Club Azur’ is poised to establish Kungs as the party-starter of 2022 and beyond.
